Monica Schechter is in her sophomore year at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia. She studies Science, Technology, and Society, and Consumer Psychology; and she hopes to work with current technology in a communications field, for example, marketing or development at a technology start-up company. During the summer Monica worked at a technology start-up called Isis in New York City, as an intern with the marketing team.
Monica’s father Richard’s position with the government has influenced her to be a better citizen. She thinks it is important for young people to be involved in public service, because young people have the opportunity to make a big difference over a long period of time. Monica volunteers as her school’s Layout & Design Editor of the Punchbowl Humor Magazine, and as a tour guide and ambassador with Kite & Key. She loves working with people, and she enjoys baking in her free time.
