A senior at Ithaca College majoring in physical therapy and minoring in French, Shannon McNichols is working toward completion of a 6-year Doctor of Physical Therapy program.  She works at the Ithaca Sciencenter and as a residence hall office assistant and is also a “big sister” through the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program as well as a collegiate soccer player. 

 

Of public service, Shannon says, “I have been lucky enough to see first-hand the changes that public service makes in a community.  And I think public service helps young people realize just how fragile and special community structures that are in place really are, and not to take for granted anything they have been given by the community (even school!).  Young people who participate in public service keep community efforts thriving.”  She enjoys playing guitar and piano, singing, painting, drawing, and dance and hopes to someday work abroad as a Peace Corps volunteer.
