Greenville, NC, native Morgan Heflin is a newly minted freshman at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She is an Art major with plans to teach at the elementary level where she hopes to impart an appreciation of the visual arts to young students. Morgan’s participation in youth mission work and camp counseling have taught her the value of hard work as well as the need for patience, cooperation and compassion when dealing with children or those in need.
Morgan believes in the value of public service saying, “The involvement of young people in public service is extremely important, as it teaches the benefits of altruism and a spirit of community. People helping other people in public service is a behavior that should be enforced and reinforced early in life.” She is also an avid reader with a special appreciation for classical literature.
