Emily Schmidt attends Boise State University, in Idaho. This freshman is studying Elementary education, and knows she will be a great teacher. “I want the kids to say when they are older that they loved 4th grade because of their teacher,” she says. Emily’s parents taught her everything she knows, and have always encouraged her to do her best. She is grateful to her mother, sponsor Shannon with the Department of Energy, for teaching her how to work well with others, and how things should run in life.

Emily believes strongly in giving back to her community, and loves running to stay fit. Her favorite movie is and always will be Beauty and the Beast.
