Katherine Valentine is just beginning her academic career at Oregon State University in Corvallis. She plans to major in Environmental Science, and does not yet have a set career in mind but is exploring the environmental field. Katherine treasures team sports, like swimming, gymnastics, and water polo; as well as community involvement clubs, like Honor Society and Key Club. “Both sports and community involved clubs provided me with lasting friendships and made me realize that I wanted to make a positive impact on all of those around me,” Katherine says.

Katherine believes public service can get young people out of their comfort zones. It can teach them to experience new things, make an impact on peoples’ lives, and expand the horizons of their own potential. When she has a free moment, Katherine loves watching Bollywood movies, and is trying to teach herself Hindi.
