Jocelyn Hoye is a freshman student at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. She plans on studying Chemistry or Math. Jocelyn would like to go on to graduate school after Bates, make a difference in the job she chooses, and enjoy her work. Jocelyn enjoys leading others by example and helping others feel engaged and involved, and for this reason is very enthusiastic about her participation in student council.

Jocelyn’s mother and sponsor Mary, who works with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration, has shown her that girls and women can succeed and do well in today’s world, and at the same time be a mother and wife. She has always encouraged Jocelyn to do her best, and inspired her to understand that working for the government is a service to the local community as well as to the nation.
