Majoring in dance at Rutgers’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, Elizabeth Rose Zwierzynski is enrolled in a 5-year program that will earn her a Master’s in dance education. After graduation, she hopes to perform with a modern dance company and to choreograph and produce her own work before moving on to a career teaching dance to children in public school.
Last summer, Elizabeth traveled to South Africa on a student study tour. She visited major cities and had the opportunity to volunteer in schools, teaching dance lessons. Says Elizabeth, “It was a fascinating experience to connect with the students and see what they were able to accomplish in one lesson. The cultural exchange taught me so much about how these students learned and processed information. They also taught me several dances from Zulu culture and some Gumboot dancing.”
