Steven Dobihal is in his junior year at Loras College, in Dubuque, Iowa. He is a History and International Studies major, with a minor in Archaeology. Steven is looking at three different career possibilities: teaching or researching history at a college, pursuing a career in politics, or working as an archaeologist. Steven has always had an interest in acting and academic challenges. He acts with the Loras Players, his school’s acting company, and participates in Paideia, the social club for Loras’ Honors program. Steven enjoys the people involved in the two groups, who push him to be more outgoing, harder working, and more contemplative.

Steven’s father and sponsor, Charles, who works with the IRS, returned to school later in life to support his family. Learning from his father’s experience has been Steven’s biggest motivation for his own success in school. Steven loves to travel, and has already done a fair bit of traveling: he has hiked across the Grand Canyon on a 5 day backpacking trip; visited Great Britain, Belgium, France, and Germany; and he studied in Lisbon, Portugal during his sophomore year at Loras.
