Nicholas MacDonald is a freshman Chemistry major at the University of Notre Dame, in Indiana. Hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Nicholas’ goal is to become a science researcher or medical professional. His father Michael, with the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, has demonstrated a commitment to bringing justice to those who are less fortunate, and has been a huge inspiration to Nicholas.

Nicholas knows he has been blessed with a supportive family and a nice middle-class background, and has spent much time volunteering with his parish youth group. He believes that volunteering to help the less fortunate helps him to keep his own problems in perspective. “It is always eye-opening to see how others struggle to just put food on the table,” he says. In his free time, Nicholas love to play ultimate Frisbee.
