Rebecca Miller studies Biology, and is a freshman pre-med major at Moorpark Community College, near her hometown of Camarillo, California. Her most important extracurricular curricular activity is volunteering at her local hospital, where she has served as a hospital receptionist and transporter for two years now, and has acquired over 200 hours of service. Through this service, Rebecca has observed surgeries, interacted with patients and their families, and seen what makes a hospital function. Volunteering at her local hospital has solidified her career goal of becoming a cardiac surgeon. “I love interacting with the patients, learning new things everyday, and being apart of something that is bigger than me,” Rebecca says.
Rebecca is devoted to her musical interests as well: she can play the piano, the bagpipes, and the flute. She thanks her parents for instilling her strong drive to achieve in school and in life. “I cannot ever repay them for what they have taught me, but I hope to show them how much their guidance has meant to me by succeeding in life and making them proud.”
