Kevin LaRosa is a senior at Arizona State University in Tempe, studying Electrical Engineering. He currently works ten hours a week as a research assistant under the Fulton Undergraduate Research Initiative (FURI) program, at the Solar Power Laboratory at ASU, developing industry-standard PN junction solar cells. He also works at the Flexible Display Center building an ultrasensitive gas sensor. Kevin is very excited for both opportunities, because it gives him access to both solar technology as well as flexible processing, two fields that he hopes can be combined effectively to provide easy, portable power.
Kevin looks up to both of his parents, and in fact plans on eventually working for the government because of his father Robert’s job with the Navy, even though his field of interest is solar. This summer, Kevin greatly appreciated a position as a summer intern for the Department of Navy. In his free time Kevin enjoys the camaraderie of intramural sports, and participation with Eta Kappa Nu, his campus’ Electrical Engineering Honors Society.
