Olivia Celata

celata olivia1Olivia Celata has been passionate about dance since she was 4 years old. Her primary focus is classical ballet and pointe, but she also enjoys other styles like jazz and hip-hop. She has not decided whether to pursue a career in dance, but she knows it has allowed her to become a more disciplined person, which will help her in any career she chooses. This freshman at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana also loves mathematics and is interested in business.

Olivia’s Honor Council in high school had the responsibility of coming up with creative and helpful ways to discipline students who broke the honor code. Although it was sometimes difficult to discipline her own peers, Olivia says this was a great learning experience and allowed her to improve her school community. After Hurricane Katrina her region, Olivia was touched by how many people helped the Greater New Orleans area. She feels it is important to give something back. “Whether by volunteering at a local homeless shelter or at an event benefitting cancer victims… when I volunteer, it not only helps others, but it also makes me feel good about myself.”
