Megan Brown is in her third year as an MD candidate at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, in Albuquerque. Her career goals are to work with tropical medicine from a dermatological perspective, and to build community health partnerships that focus on improving health outcomes in immigrant and low-income populations. Megan’s father Michael’s wise and truthful advice helped her decide to pursue a challenging career that she could wake up every morning and be excited about.

Megan believes that young people should have the opportunity to travel to developing nations, and experience public service on an international level; that it reinforces a sense of gratitude for simple luxuries, and creates a new sense of community awareness both stateside and globally. She treasures her time playing the piano, exercising, and traveling, and plans to learn a third language. “As a future physician, it’s important to me to provide healthcare that can incorporate my patients’ cultural practices and languages”.
