Katherine Singh

singh katherineKatherine Singh hails from Austin, TX, and is a junior at Northwestern University, in Evanston, IL. She is majoring in political science with a minor in global health. Katie would like to continue on to graduate school- perhaps medical school or public health school- and ultimately pursue a career in global health and health care policy. As a full-time student, Katie belongs to a student group called GlobeMed, which is a student-run group advocating for global health equity. “Seeing the passion of other students around me led me to want to learn more about global health issues and it is now something I want to pursue as a career.”

Katie thinks it is vital for young people to be involved in public service. “Engagement with public issues is how individuals can work to better the world around them. I think many young people are not aware of the depth and breadth of issues facing our country today, or how the government is addressing these issues. Public service is one way that young people can learn about the government, how it works, and what they can do to be a part of that system.”
