Mindy Markman studies Elementary and Special Education at Hood College in Frederick, MD. Her mother, Audrey, who works with the Navy, has motivated her to set numerous goals in life, and has been by her side as she accomplished many of them. “She instilled in me my sense of dedication and persistence, both of which have helped me succeed in school.” Emily’s career plans after graduation include becoming an elementary school teacher, to teach young children and inspire them to go on and pursue their dreams.
Mindy is very passionate about farming. She believes that it is important to know the amount of sacrifice, hard work, and dedication it takes to get food from the fields and onto your kitchen table. Mindy feels that farmers are not valued enough in our community, so in high school, she joined a Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter during high school, promoting farm awareness to the surrounding communities. Emily would herself like to manage a self-sustaining farm one day.
