Joel Wang studies Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park.  He is a sophomore this fall. His academic success is greatly inspired by his parents and his favorite teacher, Mr. Ish.  In addition to his studies Joel works at the FDA as a researcher in the field of medical imaging.  His father, Ray-John of the IRS, has passed on his genuine enthusiasm for government work to his son, who says “in today’s economy, I do think working for the federal government is the way to go.”  Joel believes it is important for young people to be involved in community service, to gain an understanding of how to handle real life situations.  In his free time, Joel enjoys teaching and country music.
